"Spectre" Lands In Top 10 On Open Film!

On Friday, July 10, 2009 OpenFilm.com listed "Spectre," a short film directed by Roth Rind, in the top 10 "Editor's Picks."

OpenFilm.com is a great outlet for film makers of all levels to gain exposure with fellow film makers. One of the big bonuses of OpenFilm is that they list film contests from all over the globe and encourage film makers to apply!

SVFS Features "Roth D. Rind"

Roth D. Rind is the original founder and CEO of SVFS. In 2004, Roth set off on an ambitious project to make a feature-length film titled "The Yearbook." Forming a small production company called "Dreams Studios" with Michael Floyd and Mathieu Berthet, he began stumbling through his first very intense experience as a director. The project was indeed very cheesy and amateur, but Roth learned a lot about being a director and the importance of a good team and crew.

In 2006, Roth interned for a production company (whose name cannot be distributed for legal purposes) as an assistant editor where he gained valuable knowledge in Final Cut Pro and how to work with producers.

After his experience with the production company Roth worked under the alias and username "mamasrookie" making experimental and very amateur short films learning the in's and out's of how to prepare for a feature-length.

Then, in 2007 Roth shut down Dreams Studios and came back with a whole new team and new mission for a studio: "To bring together film enthusiasts and students to create masterpieces and progress in film studies."

Now, Roth has directed many film shorts and has written several feature-length screenplays. His goal is to see SVFS bring more of the film industry and the arts to Northern California.

Sheldon Steere says, "Roth managed film sets with the utmost care. Very organized and professional, and always made film sets interesting and fun while still productive. Roth knew how to handle his crew and his actors separately and planned and organized funding and production with expertise. When faced with a lesser role than director, acting or helping on someone else's set, he has always been absolutely professional, getting into any character or role and not demeaning the project with a bad attitude or performance.”

SVFS Features "Boran Vukajlovic"

If it were not for Boran Vukajlovic, aka Boki, Silicon Valley Film Studios would have never gotten off the ground. Boki moved to the states several years ago from Bosnia and immediately took to film.

He started his film education at West Valley College and then found himself bouncing back and forth between the De Anza film program and the West Valley film program.

In 2008, through a mutual friend, Boki was brought on board the "My Sister's War" project where he worked diligently and aggressively. SVFS recognized Boki as a valuable team member and decided to bring him on board immediately.

Boki's aspires to go into film production somewhere in L.A. while continuing to build the film studio in Silicon Valley. Boki has been a DP for several short film's and on a couple feature lengths including "Low Road" and "My Sister's War." He also has taken to directing one act and two act plays on the stage.

SVFS is grateful to have such a valuable player on the team.

SVFS Features "Sheldon Edward Steere"

In March of 2008, Sheldon Edward Steere joined the SVFS team. We are very blessed to have Sheldon on our team.

In the words of Matt Cross, "Sheldon is like the Loch Ness Monster. He appears once in awhile but when he does, it's magical."

He is currently going to school at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California for a BA in Cinematography, which has given him a very professional film persona, which he brings along with him and uses on the film set to bring a professional dynamic to the set.

His goal is to produce, write, and star on as many independent films as possible, and is currently working on developing his studio "Salty Samurai Studios" in San Jose. You can find their videos, podcasts, and upcoming projects on www.saltysamuraistudios.com

Sheldon has worked in the entertainment industry for over 4 years, and has been working as an extra on SF Casting off an on for about 2 years. He has acted in countless student films and shorts, directed the photography on 1 independent feature and many short films. He has written 7 feature length screenplays, over 150 individual sketch comedy skits, 3 Television shows, and has brainstormed many other ideas that are yet to be written.

Rumors Of Video Game Webseries In Development Are True

Rumors have been quickly spreading about the possibility of a popular video game being turned into a web series by Silicon Valley Film Studios. To answer everyone's question: Yes we are! However, we are not at liberty to discuss at the moment due to copyright infringement as to WHICH video game series we will be developing into a webseries, but we can offer this teaser photo.

SVFS has been approaching writers to work on the new "mysterious" web series and will be entering serious preproduction in August, 2009.

SFVS Welcomes Robert Peck on the Board of Directors

Robert Peck, a long time friend, mentor, and colleague of Silicon Valley Film Studios sat down with Director and CEO, Roth Rind in June, 2009 and discussed the possibility of a merger between SVFS and Robert Peck Productions. Immediately SVFS could see the benefit of having Peck as a part of the team.

Robert Peck earned his Bachelor's in Accounting and Marketing and furthered his education within the Television Broadcast and Photography mediums.

Peck spent 15 years working with KSAR, covering all facets of the Broadcast studio from cable wrapping to producing and directing; working both in front of and behind the cameras.

Peck has spent the last ten years teaching video applications, Television Broadcast and his favorite, Film Production. He stresses hands on work and constantly asking oneself what one can do to make the project better. His students have consistently won awards for their work in animation, films and screenwriting.

A few years ago, he formed Robert Peck Productions to promote his students' work and make available equipment to new and upcoming producers who couldn’t afford to purchase or even rent the equipment needed to give their films that professional look.

Peck's dream is to have a studio which promotes and supports the talents and people that are necessary to produce good quality films.
